Ice Diving March
1, 2008
A total of 18
people showed up for the ice dive the weekend of March 1-2. There
were seven divers and 11 surface support personnel with members of
Michigan Adventure Diving and Great Lakes Wrecking Crew
Dive Club. Two divers used
a redundant air supply and two divers were in wetsuits. All but one
used full face masks. They also had underwater communications
according to the report from Elizabeth Campbell. Here is her
report with photos:

The day was
absolutely perfect. The weather was nice and sunny and
not too cold. At first the ice was very slippery but once the temp
rose
it became slushy. We cut three separate holes 100" apart from one
another. This way you could dive a circuit and see more of the
quarry than just the initial 100'.

We had an ice diving
class on Friday night and got all the equipment together for the big
day. We had plenty of help from all and
everything went very smooth. We as usual had snacks and a
great fire built by Elwood.

great time, thanks for the report Elizabeth. |
